House Of Ceramics

Group of three textured ceramic spheres in pale red, blue gray and yellow. 3
Price: $57.00

Una, the artist behind the shop and her exquisite display of ceramic pieces are featured here today. House Of Ceramics on Etsy has some of the most raw and beautiful pieces of ceramic art I’ve seen to-date. I am thrilled to have found this shop and the artistic pieces within.

I search for handmade stoneware, earthenware, porcelain and ceramic shops for the Daily Design Picks on tumblr sharing home decor items I find on Etsy a few times a month. That’s how I found Una’s shop. When I realized I couldn’t pick just one piece and wanted to share every piece in this shop, I knew I had to feature it.

Some of Una’s art is useful, some is decorative and the prices fit all budgets which makes them perfect for gift giving, serious art collectors or treating yourself or your home.

Below you will see the most amazing pieces. Be aware that the first photo is ALL handmade bottles and fruit. I’m impressed. How about you?

I’m honored to have the privilege to feature her shop and introduce you to it. Click on any photo or click here House Of Ceramics to visit Una’s shop on Etsy.

Judy B. Freeman Pottery – Inspired by nature with a twist.

Rainbow Stripes Fish Teapot Roy G Biv Made to Order
Price: $300.00

Judy B. Freeman Pottery is one of my favorite shops on Etsy. I get kind of crazily excited when I see a new item show up in my feed on Etsy from her shop.

I’m very fond of whimsical items and color and Judy’s shop provides both. My favorites are the big kissy-face fish, sweet comical cats, incredibly life-like butterflies and rainbow mugs. There are a pair of handmade earthenware cowboy boots in her shop based on a pair she has in her closet that are simply amazing! Truthfully, I love everything she creates. Judy describes her shop the best: “Handcrafted ceramic teapots, bowls, mugs, plates and sculptures can all be found in my shop. I’m inspired by nature, mostly butterflies, cats and fish adding a twist of whimsy and color to everything that I create.”

Judy fell in love with clay during her college years as a Fine Arts student. This love withstood the test of time and continues to be her passion. I believe that discovering your artistic voice or “calling” and following it no matter what goes on in life is a great gift. It is true what they say, even if it is slightly overused: to be truly happy in life do what you love. Judy is a great example of that old adage and a personal “Shero” of mine.

Whenever I feel a slight disappointment in my day at the crafts table (sometimes it’s every day for weeks!), I head over to Judy’s shop and always leave with a smile on my face. She renews my spirit and often gives me the strength to head back over to the table and try again. Thank you, Judy!

I believe the gift Judy has, has helped me try harder when I struggle with my creative muse. She helps me to remember not to take life or myself too seriously. The playfulness in her whimsical designs especially shows how much she enjoys her work and her life. She is one of a kind.

My enthusiasm about Judy’s pottery might be contagious. Take the chance … catch this bug! Once you visit her shop, please read her About page and spend some time getting to know Judy.

I highly respect her and appreciate her art. Take a look at the photos here and maybe you’ll understand why. I’m so excited to share another favorite Etsy shop here with you today!

Be at Peace.

While looking at a group of gazing balls and spheres photos I’ve made within the last year plus some, I noticed, once again, how much I like this mosaic table sculpture I made for the presentation I gave at the art league in April.

I found a lot of photos showing the progress of where it started and how it finished and thought it would be something to share here as the Featured Item. It was fun for me to go back and look at these, I hope you enjoy it too.

it started with a broken wine glass

a 6 inch bisque sphere, once stained glass is added, will get glued on top of the stem

a porcelain bird and an old glass blue marble perch on top

glass and mirror have been added to the sphere

swirly design to resemble waves

I see two elephants but once grouted they aren't as visible

not yet finished gluing glass and mirror

grouted in white

lots of silver mirror added to the top (pre-grout)

"Coasting On The Wings Of Tomorrow" is complete

Tomorrow I’ll be adding another weekly post doling out the great finds I’ve shared on Tumblr. There will be a photo and the link on how to find these awesome items and placed together in one spot. Hopefully in that way you can see how the theme works together. So far I’ve done them on Tumblr for two weeks; all of them will be in one post tomorrow. After that it will be just one week at a time in a post I’ve dubbed: “Daily Design Picks Compilation”. Not every week will be themed but most of them are similar to what I find when I do Etsy Treasury’s and I always have a theme in mind. When I do those, there’s often one item I find so neat I have to share it.

Enjoy the last official weekend of Summer and wave hello to cooler weather. Although warmth is always welcome, I enjoy the crisp air that Autumn provides. I’m happier with less humidity. Stay safe and make your day creative!

Isn’t this a cute Treasury? This week’s items were gathered from practical to whimsical but all about the rabbit.

Please click on the link and check it out. Leave a comment here if you’re not part of the Etsy world. Look at these sweet items created by amazing artisans. How cool are they?!

One of my favorite new shops is HarrietDamave. My first love has always been blue and white porcelain.

I highly encourage you to take some time look through them all. I’ve found a wonderful group of shops this week. All should be featured often by many.

Have a creative week!

And how much I love them …

I grew up watching movies of all kinds but the best ones were watched on my small portable TV (black and white until I begged for a color one for Christmas one year) in the late 60’s early 70’s was always during Saturday afternoons. The classics. Musicals, horror, animated. I fell in love, I cried, I laughed and I sang along. It was the best!!!

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!

Have a creative week!
