Copper Tree ArtCopper Tree Art Jewelry

Turquoise & Copper Bracelet- Raw, earthy, simplistic
Price: $58.00

I have a deep connection with copper. Whether it’s a small piece of jewelry or a large sculpture, copper, especially distressed copper, touches me deep within the recesses of my true Bohemian soul.

I’m fairly sure that feeling comes from my youth and in large part to the artisans I came across while walking through the neighboring town of New Hope, PA. Growing up just one town and one bridge away and within walking distance to some of the most creative art found in the Bucks County area at the time (late 1960’s, early 1970’s) I find myself going back to find items that remind of that time when I search for new favorites on Etsy.

For a short time in my teens, my Dad worked for a company in New Hope that distressed copper and other fine metals and made small decorative boxes with rivets strategically placed to hold it all together. These boxes were mostly used for jewelry and were earthy, rough and raw looking but beautifully well made. I had one of my own because I often sat and watched the workers make magic while soldering the pieces together. I remember the heat from the equipment, the clanking sound of hammer meeting metal and sparks flying everywhere. I found it fascinating and loved it all. I am positive the experience I had there has influenced my choices when I look for items to favorite these days on Etsy.

I still wonder where that box ended up. On my first sojourn to California from New Jersey in my early twenties, it and all the jewelry in it, flew off of the roof of our car somewhere between the two coasts. We had one of those odd and very large plastic containers called “turtles” that held most of our treasures that wouldn’t fit in the car placed on our roof. During a rest stop we didn’t lock the lid correctly … and as we watched some of our belongings flying through the air in freedom when we picked up speed on a highway, some of our treasures also went smashing to the ground. And that was the end of that … sigh. I’m sad to say that I lost some family jewelry placed in that box but I am sadder still that I lost the box. I hope someone found it and loved it as much as I did if it stayed in one piece!

Kendra Cecil from San Diego, CA, has channeled the spirit of that time I am so fond of. I am thrilled to see the copper work duplicated here in her jewelry forty years later. Each piece is affordable in price, definitely unique, filled with character and much artistic talent.

It is with great pleasure for me to introduce Kendra and her Copper Tree Art shop on Etsy to you today. As always, clicking on the photos will take you directly to that item on Etsy.

EVRA Crafts – Fine Arts Pottery by Evelyn and Ray

White Crackle Raku Pot
Price: $73.00

Raku pottery is a passion of mine. The rich, saturated colors take my breath away. According to Ceramics Today‘s website I’ve learned, once again, how drawn I am to Japan’s pottery and ceramics which is where this technique originated. The history behind it is fascinating to me. Wikipedia says the word Raku means “enjoyment”, “comfort” or “ease”. No wonder I love it.

I was introduced to that particular style of pottery on another site about a year or so ago. Much to my delight, after a short search on Etsy, I soon found what I was looking for. The first shop I found that had Raku pottery became an automatic favorite and the shop I happily share with you today.

Combined efforts of equally talented Evelyn and Ray Bernard, this shop is filled with many different styles in pottery including Raku. Some of my favorites are shared here.

It’s not necessary for me to use many words this week. Just look at the beautiful photos of exquisite handmade pottery. Click on the photos to go to that item in their shop.

Any of these would make a great gift this holiday season or a wonderful starter collection for yourself!

They do have a Facebook Page but don’t use it often. Here is the link: evracraftsfacebook

Judy B. Freeman Pottery – Inspired by nature with a twist.

Rainbow Stripes Fish Teapot Roy G Biv Made to Order
Price: $300.00

Judy B. Freeman Pottery is one of my favorite shops on Etsy. I get kind of crazily excited when I see a new item show up in my feed on Etsy from her shop.

I’m very fond of whimsical items and color and Judy’s shop provides both. My favorites are the big kissy-face fish, sweet comical cats, incredibly life-like butterflies and rainbow mugs. There are a pair of handmade earthenware cowboy boots in her shop based on a pair she has in her closet that are simply amazing! Truthfully, I love everything she creates. Judy describes her shop the best: “Handcrafted ceramic teapots, bowls, mugs, plates and sculptures can all be found in my shop. I’m inspired by nature, mostly butterflies, cats and fish adding a twist of whimsy and color to everything that I create.”

Judy fell in love with clay during her college years as a Fine Arts student. This love withstood the test of time and continues to be her passion. I believe that discovering your artistic voice or “calling” and following it no matter what goes on in life is a great gift. It is true what they say, even if it is slightly overused: to be truly happy in life do what you love. Judy is a great example of that old adage and a personal “Shero” of mine.

Whenever I feel a slight disappointment in my day at the crafts table (sometimes it’s every day for weeks!), I head over to Judy’s shop and always leave with a smile on my face. She renews my spirit and often gives me the strength to head back over to the table and try again. Thank you, Judy!

I believe the gift Judy has, has helped me try harder when I struggle with my creative muse. She helps me to remember not to take life or myself too seriously. The playfulness in her whimsical designs especially shows how much she enjoys her work and her life. She is one of a kind.

My enthusiasm about Judy’s pottery might be contagious. Take the chance … catch this bug! Once you visit her shop, please read her About page and spend some time getting to know Judy.

I highly respect her and appreciate her art. Take a look at the photos here and maybe you’ll understand why. I’m so excited to share another favorite Etsy shop here with you today!

LoveFromCapeCod – “To Send A Little Extra Love Out Into The World…”

Bohemian Earth / Painted Rock / Sandi Pike Foundas
Price: $26.00

I have had the extreme pleasure to get to know the artist behind this shop. After a few email conversations with Sandi Pike Foundas of LoveFromCapeCod, I can honestly say she is one of the most gentle, peaceful, kind and loving souls that I’ve “almost met”. The energy I can visibly feel from her painted rocks is a mystery to me. Logically I know that I shouldn’t be able to simple feel energy from a photo … but I do. And I can only assume the reason this is possible is because Sandi puts all of her love, care and her own positive energy into each piece of art she creates.

I’ll admit I was tempted to just include photos of Sandi Pike Foundas’ artwork and leave it at that. There are no real words for what I feel when I happily look through the items in Sandi’s shop. Nothing I write could express how much I love what she does … it’s just not possible to explain. The best way to understand is to experience her art for yourself.

The beautiful artist behind the beautifully painted rocks that touch me so much is Sandi Pike Foundas. Her “About” Page on Etsy entitled: “The Call of The Sea…And the Desire to Create…” explains her journey far better than I ever could. I highly recommend taking the time to read it and peruse her shop. Her “art you can hold in the palm of your hand” and Enchanted Journals are amazingly detailed and precise. Each crafted to perfection and each special and entirely unique just like the artist herself.

She says: “Peaceful, Centering, Vibrational Energy Tumbled in From the Sea… Art you can hold in the palm of your hand and FEEL its calming presence. SEA STONES with layered glaze designs (A gentle way to bring a piece of the shore into your living space) and One-of-a-Kind, Embellished, Enchanted JOURNALS. This is my passion…and my joy…Each piece is created with great love by my hands and from my heart. A generous portion of each purchase is donated to organizations dedicated to finding a cure for cancer.”

My hope is that you will find your visit to Sandi’s shop enjoyable. In the few times I’ve had contact with her, I have found her to be a spiritual being full of positive energy and would suspect should you have any questions for her, she would gladly answer them when she’s able. I feel blessed having found her and her extraordinary art. They are both sublime.

I’m excited to bring another favorite shop to your attention on this Monday morning. Below you will see just a small portion of what the shop carries. I’m positive you will find one or two things that touch you, speak to you and make you smile. It is obvious painting rocks and sharing the love of doing it is exactly what Sandi should be doing. She has found her purpose and I am so glad she has shared her passion and artistic creativity with us! I adore Sandi and her art. Look below and you’ll understand why her shop is a favorite on Etsy.

ShawnDuBois Contemporary Mixed Media Mosaics & Other Unique Art.

Mocha My Day.
Price: $20.00

I don’t remember when Shawn’s work first jumped out at me; I do know I fell in love immediately with his art. This, my friend, is a serious and long-lasting love affair now that I’ve found it. I check in on his site activity often and am always thrilled when I see something new! I hope he continues to make and share his art for years and years.

My very first impression was one of pure joy in finding his colorful contemporary art. His sense of humor is apparent in his coffee inspired mosaics especially, which by the way are my favorite!! All of his mosaics share a message, many of them upbeat and inspiring even if they only have one word on them. Some are filled with whimsical thoughts and designs which is always welcome in my world. His use of recycled materials such as keys, buttons, rocks, broken pieces of jewelry and so on, makes my environmentally responsible hippie soul sing.

Charmer Cat.
Price: $70.00

Those who know a little about me and my work should see that Shawn and I have a LOT in common when it comes to using found objects in our mosaics. He does that so much better than I ever could! The main reason I decided to look through Shawn’s shop when I first discovered it was because of his brightly colored mosaics. They pop brightly and cheerfully. What makes me go back to his shop now is to see what he’s done with the found objects he puts in his mosaics and the unique way he does it. He inspires me. His mosaics always makes me delighted I visited.

We are kindred spirits when it comes to finding creative uses for discarded things but he stands alone and way above this spirited mixed media lover with his excellent use of uncomplicated designs that stand out strongly. The Bohemian sense of color that I adore in art shines brightly through Shawn’s work. I just dig it!

Price: $10.00

His mixed media mosaics are filled with bits and pieces of colorful objects, stained glass and polymer clay. Shawn DuBois’ mosaics makes my heart dance with happiness. I am more than a little honored to introduce you to one of my all-time favorite shops on Etsy today. Hop on over to Etsy and take a look at his work. Isn’t it awesome?!

Price: $30.00

You can find Shawn on Etsy by clicking on any of the photos above or here: ShawnDuBois

Monday’s blog format has changed to one I’m truly excited about. Sharing the Etsy love has always been important to me. Finding new and super cool ways to do that is part of my journey! Contacting the first few people to feature here was a joyous experience and one I will always cherish. It was such a positive experience from thought to conception that made me know immediately that I am headed in the right direction with this new weekly thing I’m doing. I’m diggin’ it so far! I hope you enjoy my first post featuring an artist I have tucked away in my favorites section on Etsy.

I first found TORIART while cruisin’ Etsy looking for ceramic pieces and stoneware. I do this often, because the love of handmade pottery will never leave me. I’ve had a long love affair with it! As long as there are creative people like Tori, I will forever be happy. Tori’s work caught my eye because I love mid-century modern designs. Find the links below and head on over to G.VegaCeramica’s website and look at Tori’s array of designs which are mod and sleek plus bright and cheerful. All amazing.

A little about the artist: Tori of TORIART, is originally from Scotland and now lives in Southern Spain. She studied Industrial Design in Aberdeen going to Gray’s School of Art. The industrial design influence shows in her ceramic tapestry wall art. I absolutely love the unique look of these pieces. The whimsical style with each flower in Tori’s art garden brings a smile to my face! She describes her works as ‘an amalgamation of influences’ and herself as someone who ‘loves working with my hands creating beautiful things’.

I’m honored to share her work with you today. You can find TORIART, as I did at Etsy and at the links for GVegaCeramia below.
