Some of the best times I have is when I search for pottery pieces through Etsy. It was fun looking for some new things to place in my Treasury this week.

Mosaic Art Auction to Benefit Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières: The press release for the online auction is below. Those who are involved are some of the best talented mosaic artists on the planet! Check out the website and look at the display. It is mind-blowing!

The creative talents of local artist Cindy White of EarthMotherMosaics from Norristown, PA will join an international group of mosaic artists whose works will be featured and available for bid in an online auction benefit for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières at the online auction website:

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization which provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.

Mosaic is an ancient art form of laying out tesserae: glass, stone or pebbles…including the more contemporary additions of baubles, crockery and fused glass among many other items, into a picture or pattern of abstract or representational images.  Used for centuries as floor and wall ornamentation, and for iconic symbols in many religions, mosaic has seen resurgence beginning in the last century to not only continue these architectural uses but to develop an acceptance in the world of Fine Art.

This auction collection of 126 mosaic artworks from an international group of 124 artists is a fine example of the diverse creativity in this again burgeoning art form.   Some artists utilizing the like materials dating back to mosaic origins while others take full advantage of the limitless tesserae possibilities available today.
